Guerrilla tactics in North Iraq! They hit a Turkish base with Grad rockets

The Turkish Basika military base in the northern part of Mosul, Iraq, was attacked with several rockets fired by the group Ahrar al-Iraq.

The Bashiqa military base in Zelkan district, located in the north of the city of Mosul, was targeted by 20 rockets on the first day of February. Minutes after the attack, the "Islamic Resistance Liwa Ahrar al-Iraq" claimed responsibility for the attack by publishing a proclamation.

“At 07:36 on Wednesday (local time), the Turkish army base in northern Iraq was attacked with 20 Grad rockets. The operation will continue until the complete and immediate withdrawal of the Turkish occupiers," Ahrar al-Iraq reported.

The Kurdistan Region Anti-Terrorism Organization also announced that the Turkish military base north of Mosul was hit by 8 rockets.

This is the first attack by Iraqi resistance groups on the Turkish base in Basika in 2023. Last year, this base was targeted by rocket and drone attacks 23 times.

It is worth mentioning that the last time, on December 4, 2022, the Basika military base was targeted again with eight rockets.

Turkey has been conducting military offensives on the territory of Iraq's Kurdistan region since 2015 to crack down on Kurdish factions that Ankara considers "terrorist organizations".

This base is subject to frequent shelling from time to time. On August 25, Al-Mayadeen newspaper correspondent reported that this Turkish base in Basika, east of Nineveh, which is occupied by the Turkish army, had been targeted with several missiles.

It is noteworthy that Turkish planes are constantly targeting Iraqi villages and regions. On July 20, Turkish raids focused on the Barch resort in Dohuk Governorate, killing a number of civilians and injuring dozens.

On July 23, Iraq submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council, requesting an emergency meeting regarding the Turkish attacks.

The Iraqi President, Abd al-Latif Rashid, had previously spoken about Turkish violations, saying that the border violation embarrasses the governments of Baghdad and Erbil, stressing that Turkey's presence in the Iraqi ground is unacceptable.
