The son of a founding member of Palestinian Hamas has broken his silence and condemned the terrorist organization. He turned against his own family and became a Christian when he saw the group's atrocities.
"They don't care about the Palestinians, they use them as a human shield," said Mosab Hassan Youssef.
Mosab Hasan Yusef left the Middle East and became a Christian. He provided classified information to Israel and then applied for asylum in the United States, Fox News wrote.
“I was born in the heart of the Hamas leadership... and I know them very well. They don't care about the people of Palestine. I saw their brutality in 1996 when I spent almost a year and a half in Megiddo prison... They killed so many Palestinians then that I decided I could not continue with this movement. I had to do it. Even if Hamas offered me a lot... I was like a prince in this world... but I wasn't happy about it. I even turned against my own family... because I didn't like Hamas and today 25 years later they are the rulers of Gaza and we see what they are capable of," said Youssef.
His remarks came almost two weeks after mass killings by Hamas in Israeli neighborhoods on the border with the Gaza Strip.
"Hamas is not a national movement. Hamas is a religious movement with the goal of establishing an Islamic state," Youssef stressed. "They don't care about nationalism. In fact it is against him. They are just using the Palestinians to achieve their goals, their long term goal is to turn the Middle East into an Islamic state," added the Palestinian.
He stated that the real culprit behind this situation is Iran, the known sponsor of the terrorist group.
“Iran is the real culprit in this situation. Hamas does not work for the benefit of the Palestinian people, Hamas works for Iran. They rule Hamas. So they are lying about nationalism, it is not a national movement... They are using the Palestinian people as a human shield," he said, while closing by saying that "we must liberate Gaza from Hamas. Israel is doing Palestine the greatest favor by destroying Hamas."
