Russian ships destroyed three Ukrainian naval drones in the Black Sea that tried to attack them, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine made an unsuccessful attempt to attack the patrol ships "Sergei Kotov" and "Vasily Bykov" with three maritime drones.

It is noted that these two ships of the Black Sea Fleet control navigation in the south-western part of the Black Sea, 340 km from Sevastopol.

They destroyed the Ukrainian drones with fire from conventional weapons. The "Sergey Kotov" and "Vasily Bykov" continue to perform their duties," the Russian Navy's statement said.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine had already tried to attack the ship "Sergey Kotov" with drones on July 25. At that time the crew also destroyed the drones with fire from conventional weapons, without injuring anyone.

According to information cited by the Ukrainian Navy, at least three warships carrying Kalibr missiles are operating in the Black Sea.

At the same time, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, inspected the forward command post of the troop group, which is located in the direction of Zaporozhye. This was announced to journalists at the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"During the work in the zone of the special military operation, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, inspected the forward command post of the troop group in the direction of Zaporozhye," the ministry said.

The ministry noted that the commander of the group, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Romanchuk, reported to Yerasimov on the spot on the current situation, the nature of the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the combat missions carried out by Russian troops in the tactical direction of Orekhovsk.

The Defense Ministry clarified that during the work, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces drew attention to the timely recognition of the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to the provocation of preemptive strikes against them and the conduct of artillery combat.

In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are deploying large forces to the village of Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic, regardless of the casualties, Dennis Pusilin, acting head of the People's Republic, said on Solovyov Live.

"One of the hot spots is Staromayorskoe, the settlement is really enduring a lot, the enemy periodically enters there, our units are knocked out, for some period they even retreat in order to conduct the operation more precisely. Because the enemy does not take into account the loss of manpower, but every man is important to us. Therefore, if it is possible to complete the task adequately while minimizing losses and not losing ground, in fact, all options are used," said Pusilin.

The village of Staromayorskoe is located on the Vremevsky promontory. According to the Defense Ministry, it came under the control of Russian forces in the spring of 2022. The population before the start of hostilities in Staromayorskoe was about 1,000 people. The most intense fighting in the area of the settlement has continued in recent weeks.
