Chaos in Yemen! With Cyprus as a springboard, US and UK hammered the country all night long (Video)- Houthi leader: "You will regret it"

The United States and Britain launched air strikes in Yemen overnight in response to attacks by Houthi rebels on merchant ships in the Red Sea.

US President Joe Biden announced the "success" of the US and British strikes and warned his enemies in the region that he would not hesitate to take additional measures if necessary.

So we are dealing with the first strikes against the Iranian-backed Houthi group since the group started targeting merchant ships in the Red Sea, disrupting international trade, but especially that which serves Western interests. The rebels harassed these ships with missiles and drones.

The recent Western bombing was carried out with the help of fighter aircraft (some of which took off from the British base at Akrotiri in Cyprus) and US-made Tomahawk missiles. Explosions were also heard in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a. In total, more than 12 targets were hit in the country.

According to US officials, the targets of the US and British attacks are military sites used by the Houthis. Such sites may be logistical support centres, air defence systems and weapons depots.

Interestingly, a recent article by the Russian news portal Avia-pro reported that the organisation's air defence systems failed to intercept a single incoming Western missile.

Apart from the US and Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Australia, Canada and Bahrain provided their support for this unprecedented mission, US President Biden said. Recall also that the Western strikes came after a long period of warnings from the Pentagon and NATO against the Houthis, warnings that apparently did not convince the rebels to change their stance.

The Houthi leader Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said that the United States and Britain will soon realise that their attacks in Yemen are "the biggest foolishness in their history".

Immediate Retaliation by the Houthis

Meanwhile, Avia-pro reports that shortly after the first US and British strikes against targets in Yemen, the Houthi rebels launched their own retaliatory attacks against US bases and ships in the Middle East.

Sources suggest that between 10 and 18 short- and medium-range ballistic missiles were fired, but all of them are said to have been intercepted by US Navy ships, specifically with the help of the Aegis air defence missile system.

Some of these weapons were even shot down over Saudi Arabia, while others reached Iraq, a country which hosts various US military bases.
