Everything you need to know about the Turkish version of Chinese T-300 system

During the '90s, Turkey contacted many countries like China, France, and Israel in order to purchase a license for their ballistic missile technology and their missile systems technology. In the end, China was selected and in 1997 a contract was signed to produce the Chinese WS-1 multiple rocket launcher. The Turkish version was named T-300 Kasigra (Hurricane).

The system was tested in 2000 and in the same year, it entered service in the Turkish Army. The transfer vehicle is a 6x6 wheeled vehicle. The system has been exported to Azerbaijan and Bangladesh till now. The first customers used the weapon against Armenia in 2020.

The main purpose of the system is to hit targets with its guided missile, which can reach a distance of 90-120km. Such targets may be batteries of enemy systems or air defense systems.

The T-300's missiles are 320mm and not 300mm as its name implies. Some available options are the TR-300S unguided missiles that can reach up to 65km and the TR-300E missiles with a maximum range of 100km. Both are used against surface targets.

For precision shots, TRG-300K are being selected as they have a range of 120km, precision landing of 10m, and can destruct anything in a radius of 70m.

The system is being operated by a crew of three. It takes almost 20m to enter fire mode.

A typical battery consists of 6-9 launch vehicles, escorted by supply vehicles and a command vehicle.
