Ministry of Defense of Russia on the events in the Belgorod region: "The Ukrainians, having suffered in Artemovsk (Bakhmut), went on to implement terrorist actions against the Russian population on Monday. After an attack, a unit of the Ukrainian national formation entered the Belgorod region.

The Ukrainian nationalist formations that attacked the Belgorod area were surrounded and neutralized.

Those who escaped our attack in the region returned to Ukraine, but we pursued them to the end."

On May 22, after intensive artillery bombardment of the Kozinka checkpoint, as well as some other civilian facilities in the Grayvoronsky district of the Belgorod region, a unit of the Ukrainian nationalist formation invaded the territory of Russia.

During the counter-terrorist operation, the Russian Air Force, artillery and units covering the state borders of the Western Military District blocked and defeated the nationalists.

Their remnants retreated back to Ukrainian territory, but were pursued until they were completely eliminated, the military department added.

The Russian Duma accused the United States of supporting sabotage actions in the Belgorod region.

Yesterday as is known, since the morning, the Ukrainian fighters opened mass mortar and artillery fire in the Belgorod region and in the urban districts of Graivoronsky, Shebekinsky, Valuysky, Belgorodsky region. In the Grayvoron area, 12 people were injured, 36 houses were damaged.

In the village of Kozinka, artillery ceased to operate on both sides and the gradual evacuation of the civilian population began.

"Ukraine will not be able to win a war against Russia," said Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, who went on to emphasize that "my position is that if you look at the reality, the numbers, what is happening around and the fact that NATO not ready to send troops. It is obvious that the poor Ukrainians are not going to win."

China and Russia have stepped up economic cooperation and diplomatic contacts in recent years, with their strategic partnership deepening after the invasion of Ukraine.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has arrived in China, Moscow's foreign ministry said, for a visit during which he will meet with President Xi Jinping and sign a series of infrastructure and trade deals, but there are reports that Moscow is preparing a deal for the supply of defense material from Beijing, which is likely to be in the final stages.

Mishustin arrived late Monday in Shanghai, the ministry said, where he was met at the airport by Moscow's ambassador to China Igor Morgulov and Beijing's top diplomat in Russia Zhang Hanhui. He will take part in a Russian-Chinese business forum and visit a petrochemical research institute in Shanghai, the Kremlin said, as well as hold talks with "representatives of Russian business circles".

That forum has invited several sanctioned Russian tycoons, including from key fertilizer, steel and mining sectors, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who handles energy issues, Bloomberg reported.

China last year became the top energy customer for Russia, whose natural gas exports had otherwise plummeted following a storm of Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine.
