Israeli Media: Spike Nlos missile deal to be officially signed in February (Video)

The agreement for the purchase of Spike Nlos missiles from Greece is expected to be signed next month.

The total value of the agreement is 335 million euros, of which 280 million euros are intended for the army units and 55 million euros for the Greek Navy, while the supply is expected to be made by Israeli companies Plasan and Aeronautics .

The agreement to supply Rafael's Spike NLOS missiles to the Greek military, first reported last month, is expected to be signed in early February 2023.

This is true according to the Greek Minister of Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who spoke to local media a few days ago.

Mr. Panagiotopoulos was asked about the implementation of the equipment plan with these missiles and he replied that complex and slow negotiations are still underway for the weapons systems, which will be installed both on army ground vehicles as well as on ships and helicopters.

In other words, these are three different contracts with different terms and technical specifications.

The negotiations are in the final stage of signatures and according to the minister the final signing of the three contracts will take place at the beginning of February.

The procurement of the Spike NLOS anti-tank missiles not only concerns the Army and the Apache-type army aviation helicopters, but also the Navy since 4 gunboats and 4 SOF warships will be equipped with them, thus turning into extremely dangerous naval platforms capable of causing devastating blows to the enemy.

Thus, especially the maintenance, will take place in three branches of the Greek armed forces, with different standards and requirements, which in a period of military operations are maximized to a large extent.

What the acquisition of the SPIKE NLOS missile system means for the Greek armed forces

The SPIKE NLOS is the long-range version of the SPIKE family and is a missile that "locks" the target and constantly corrects its course.

The name NLOS (Non Line Of Sign) demonstrates the operator's ability to fire even from a protected position without even requiring visual contact with the target. And this is one of its great advantages.

In combination with the long attack distance which exceeds 25 km while according to sources from Israel it even reaches 32. Range and shooting capabilities place the SPIKE NLOS at the top of this type of weapon system since it can be used day and night with the help of thermal sensors even under difficult weather conditions.
