The new Turkish doctrine of landing action against our islands - The characteristics of the landing coast and the stages of its occupation

We are talking to the Turks in the framework of the "Declaration of Friendship and Good Neighbourliness" and "our luck is working", since the "neighbours", in the framework of the "peaceful resolution of our differences in the Aegean", are carrying out landing exercises on the coast of Asia Minor, introducing unremarkable facts.

The new Turkish landing exercise on the Asia Minor coast - What new data it introduces

The Denizkurdu I-2024 exercise was successfully conducted in the Black Sea, the Sea of Islands and the Eastern Mediterranean between January 7-16, 2024, as part of the Naval Forces Command's operational training activities for 2024.

The exercise used highly active FNSS ZAHA armoured amphibious assault vehicles, landing ships and vessels.

AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopters provided fire support to the landing troops.

The Kılıç class assault ship conducted intense fire on a representative surface target.

Amphibious Marines transported to the coast by LCVP landing craft belonging to TCG BAYRAKTAR and TCG SANCAKTAR LST and ZAHA armored amphibious assault vehicles produced by the FNSS are in position on the virtual enemy coast.

The frigate is capable of providing fire support during the landing.

The characteristics of the landing coast and the stages of its occupation

By carefully observing the videos and photographs we can see from the point of view of the landing action, its manifestation in three stages, which include:

Initially, the approach of the LITTLE LANDING SHORE in area was made by (2) ZAHA armored amphibious assault vehicles with the Turkish Marines' personnel on board disembarking and taking up combat positions, more cover, we would say on a mound in front of them.

Then follows a force which is landed in inflatable boats and also takes a covering position on the aforementioned mound and then in a third stage additional forces are transported in small landing craft (slippers).

We would like to point out that the small landing beach chosen has the special feature that immediately in front of it there is a low ceiling, which has the effect of protecting the Turkish Marines from the fire of the enemy's defending forces' straight-track weapons.

A short distance a few metres from the landing beach there is an uphill road that climbs to the top of the hill perpendicular to it.

At the same time, Turkish paratroopers who made a drop and airborne units transported by helicopters have secured-occupied the top of the hill perpendicular to the coast of the landing, so that the forces that landed on the coast can ascend unhindered and without losses through the uphill road mentioned above.

Earlier than all of the above Turkish attack helicopters "cleared" this particular hill from enemy resistance, while the navy and air force with drones ensured control of the sea landing area, even proceeding to drop sonar from a naval cooperation aircraft to detect any enemy submarine.

As for the Turkish navy ships participating in the landing, they actually fired on alleged enemy surface naval targets.

Diversification of the Turkish Landing Battalion

Note that the exercises conducted by the Turks are ALWAYS either a stand-alone test of an Operation Plan or part of it.

From the above we understand that it is very likely that we are witnessing a new Turkish Landing Battalion, which will include landing actions by small forces on several landing beaches at the same time, of small capacity and size, which have the above-mentioned characteristics in terms of security (vertical hill in front and at a short distance of a few meters from the coast), in order to proceed without losses to the interior of the island, where they will be joined by airborne forces that will have arrived.

Our suggestion is that the competent bodies should examine how the "neighbours" deal with this kind of landing operations and, in particular, that they should find coasts on our islands that have the particular characteristics of the coast where the Turkish Marines carried out their exercise.
