The major Turkish aeronautical exercise "Deniz kurdu-1/2024" in the Aegean Sea-NE Mediterranean-Black Sea- On which scenarios are Turks working

The Turkish MoD announced two days ago that the Deniz kurdu-1/2024 exercise, which will be conducted with live fire in the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean by the Naval Forces Command between 7-16 January, has started.

This exercise is being conducted with the participation of the Land Command, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard Command elements and public agencies.

The major Turkish aeronautical exercise Deniz kurdu-1/2024 in the Aegean Sea-Sea Mediterranean-Black Sea is underway

The press conference held at the Naval Warfare Center Command was attended by Chief of Staff of the Naval Command Rear Admiral Nihat Baran, Chief of Operations of the Naval Command Rear Admiral Kenan Ka'an Turkan, Commander of the Northern Task Force Vice Admiral Erdinç Altıner, Commander of the Naval Air Force Vice Admiral Emiral Mehmet Sava, Commander of the Submarine Fleet Vice Admiral Timur Yılmaz and Commander of Gölcük Naval Base Vice Admiral Ali Tuna Baysal.

Türkkan said the Denizkurdu-1/2024 exercise is an exercise conducted by the Naval Forces Command in accordance with the Turkish Armed Forces' exercise program.

Purpose of the exercise

He stated that the exercise is intended to assess the operational management and command management effectiveness , to increase the operational readiness levels of the elements participating in the exercise and to develop the judgment, insight and decision making capability of headquarters personnel and participating elements in a highly threatening environment, as well as to test interoperability procedures among participating elements.

Participating forces-instruments

Chief of Naval Operations Rear Admiral Türkkan stated that the exercise involves:

8 frigates, 3 corvettes, 16 fast assault ships, 7 submarines, 6 minesweepers, 47 auxiliary class ships, 13 patrol ships, 9 landing ships , 10 aircraft, 17 helicopters, 22 aerial vehicle teams, 5 SAT and 5 SAS task forces, amphibious infantry units and amphibious assault teams, attack helicopters from Land Forces Command, a general-purpose helicopter, a heavy-lift helicopter, attack aircraft from Air Force Command, airborne Warning and Control (HIK) aircraft, a Coast Guard search and rescue vessel and 6 Coast Guard vessels.

Stating that the "Cooperation and Guidance for Maritime Transport (DUİR)" activity will be carried out with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Türkkan said that in the exercise, 110 surface ships, 7 submarines, 34 aircraft, 22 helicopters, 22 unmanned aerial vehicles and about 17,000 people, including a public body, will participate.

"Episodes" of the exercise - Objects to be tested

Türkkan said that during the exercise, operational preparation training for basic types of naval operations, actual shootings against surface, air and land targets will be held , while the distinguished observer day will be held in Aksaz on January 12.

He said that port visits were planned by 43 "elements" participating in the exercise.

Türkkan informed that the exercise would include surface firing using surface targets, air defense firing using aerial targets towed by aircraft , ground bombardment firing and guided missile firing (TEMREN, MAM-L) by naval aircraft , saying:

"Drawing their strength and determination from the great Turkish nation and the crescent on their flag, the Turkish Naval Forces, with all their floating, diving and flying elements, protect the homeland when needed with unwavering determination, will and enthusiasm in every corner of the homeland, beyond its borders and in the seas of the world, especially in our Blue Homeland."

On this occasion, we once again honor our Commander-in-Chief, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who gave us democracy, and all our martyrs, heroes of our national struggle and our veterans who have passed away, with mercy and gratitude for our veterans who are alive. We wish health and prosperity to the precious families of our martyrs and veterans."

Evaluation

From the above it can be seen that the Deniz kurdu-1/2024 exercise is yet another confirmation that Turkey remains firmly committed to its objectives in the Aegean and SE Mediterranean, to serving the ideology of the "Blue Homeland" and its claims against us.

The participation of 5 SAT and 5 SAS groups in this exercise, indicates the conduct of double action episodes involving underwater attack and defense of naval targets and ports, a fact which should be particularly watched by us in the context of an attempt to surprise the Turks who want to act underwater penetration with mini submarines ST-500, to seize our islets-minor islands, or even in preparation for the seizure of an island.
