Blinken's visit to Athens and the monopoly of natural gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean with CHEVRON

The visit of the American Foreign Minister, Anthony Blinken, to Athens was not just by chance, since, apart from everything else, we will soon have many developments in energy issues.

"Chevron has formally requested permission from its Aphrodite field partner, Shell, to use the company's underutilized facilities in Egypt as part of the development of the Cyprus field.

Cairo may be reluctant to sign the reported terms.

Cypriot officials, however, have been excited in recent weeks by Chevron CEO Mike Wirth's statement that the Eastern Mediterranean is a "high priority" for American energy policy," foreign media reports.

Despite the lack of mention of Cyprus or the 4.5 tcf Aphrodite field in the company's results or presentation material, the expansion of Israel's 23 tcf Leviathan field is at the top of the US company's plans.

The Americans of CHEVRON, has participation in the fields of Egypt, Cyprus, between Crete and Libya, while it also has cooperation with Israel.

Chevron two years ago acquired about 40% of a huge gas field in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Israel. It also plans to open its first exploration field in a concession area in the eastern Mediterranean.

The American plan to control all major deposits in the region is currently stumbling in Libya, due to Marshal Khalifa Haftar and the situation in that country, which has been torn apart by civil war since 2011.

CHEVRON is the common denominator in Greece, Israel and Egypt changes everything in the matter of natural gas in the EU.

Plans for the Eastern Mediterranean were at the top of talks between Egyptian and Israeli oil ministers on the sidelines of the EGYPS 2023 conference, which was attended by Greek and Cypriot delegations.

The Greek mission together with Israelis and Egyptians, but also the Cypriots are preparing for the next day in our area. The American Chevron, whose technical team was in Athens recently, also participated in the whole process.

There is only one question for this region and it concerns what is happening with Turkey and what is its relationship with all these plans?

Everything is moving in the Eastern Mediterranean and energy giants are drawing the plans for the next 50 years, and that is exactly where our country is located, as well as Cyprus, and this is terribly important for the new generations in our country, no matter what many say inside and outside Greece.
