Erdogan's "silent diplomacy" has passed again - The UN has withdrawn in Cyprus in the face of the Turkish challenge

Erdogan finally got his way once again in Pyla, Cyprus, with the construction of a road in the so-called buffer zone, after the UN bowed to the Turkish Sultan on the issue of Pyla.

Making use of so-called "silent diplomacy", the UN and Nicosia reportedly decided to set up a joint committee with the Turkish Cypriots to improve the road to Pyla, ignoring the real insidious military plans of the neo-Ottoman Turks who want to bypass the British bases in case of a war crisis by moving powerful forces.

"The Pyla crisis in Cyprus, which has pitted UN soldiers and Occupied Territories police against each other leading to incidents, has reached the stage of resolution," writes the Turkish daily Hurriyet, which certainly has information from the Turkish government, and speaks of "silent diplomacy" between the two sides.

Colin Stewart, the UN official in Cyprus, arrived in the occupied territories where he met with Turkish Cypriot Pseudo-Minister T. Ertugloglu.
"In the so-called "silent negotiations" that have been going on for two weeks, the UN and Occupied Cyprus technical delegations have been working in detail on the maps, without the presence of Greek Cypriots, to "determine how the controls will be carried out, since the road being implemented by the Turks is already in the village of Pyla in the UN-controlled buffer zone.

The agreement is expected to be announced in the near future after the details are put in a document," the Cypriot press reports.

Turkish military plan against Cyprus

This is essentially a legalization of Turkish deeds in Pyla, Cyprus, "sugar-coating the pill to the Greek Cypriots", while the construction of a road inside the Dead Zone is a serious part of a Turkish military plan against Nicosia.

The Turks are proceeding to pave, extend and improve the dirt road that will connect the occupied village of Arsos with Pyla via the Trulli outpost.

In a war, and in the subsequent military operations that will take place in Cyprus in any scenario, roads, large or small, will play a major role, since they will be used to move powerful forces from one point to another, in order to create local military superiority with the aim of neutralising the opponent.

With this semantic value, we are not talking about a simple paved road connecting the occupied village of Arsos with Pyla, but a critical road that in the event of war targets the entire Gulf of Larnaca.

The Turks are presenting the naive scenario of facilitating Turkish Cypriots in the occupied territories. "But what the Turks are attempting by design is to bypass the British Bases, so that they are not even controlled by the British in the event of warfare, so that they can comfortably move powerful forces."

The aim of the Turkish military headquarters in Katehonen is the unhindered movement of Turkish forces ( in a war scenario) to an outpost that exists illegally within the "buffer zone" on a hill above Pyla, for which the UN has not done a thing.

With all this, the Turks are achieving their plans to control strategic points on the island, while they are preparing to establish a huge airbase in Famagusta and at the Lefkovo airport, for the next step of their plan which is to intimidate Nicosia on a permanent basis, FIR violations, and the effective hostage-taking of the Greek Cypriot side.

As we have repeatedly stressed, driven by Erdogan's desire to outdo Kemal, there is an immediate need for the transfer of a fully manned Greek Mechanized Brigade, along with attack helicopters, drones, and fighter jets to the island at all times under Turkish control.
