These are the 5 most powerful navies of the world today

The naval forces are a very important part of every nation's army. Today these are the countries with the most powerful and dangerous navies.  

5. United Kingdom

A fifth of the list is the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom. From the mid of the 18th century, the navy was the strongest on the planet. Today, the two Queen Elizabeth class carriers are considered top-class. The active personnel is almost 33,000.  
  
Key weapons are the six destroyers of the Daring class, the 13 frigates of the Duke class, the three nuclear submarines of the Astute class, the four ballistic missile submarines of the Vanguard-class, and of course we should not forget the Sea Harrier aircraft, the Sea Harrier II and the F-35Bs.

4. Japan

The Japanese Navy includes 51,000 personnel, more than 150 vessels, and almost 350 aircraft. The military navy was limited in defenses purposes after World War II. The country doesn't have any active carriers.  
  
Key weapons are the two large Izumo ships and the two Hyuga helicopter carriers that can perform amphibious operations. The 26 destroyers (class Atago, class Aikizuko…), the 20 submarines, the 60 Lockheed P-3C Orions, and Kawasaki P-1 aircraft.

3. China

From the '90s, the Chinese army started developing rapidly and achieved to rank high worldwide. Especially, the country's navy has acquired advanced vessels and systems lately. The Chinese Navy has 250,000 personnel. 
  
Kea weapons of the navy are the two carriers Liaoning and Shandong, the 30 destroyers, the 50 frigates, the 40 corvettes of the fleet, the guided-missile cruisers Type 055, and the fleet of 68 submarines. Last but not least, the Navy operates more than 700 aircraft like the JH-7 and the H-6, with the primary goal to attack carrier strike groups of the US Navy.

2. Russia

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia received a very powerful navy, but due to insufficient funding, the fleet has shortened by a lot. The personnel of the Navy includes 140,000 people.  
  
Key weapons are the only carrier of the country, the Admiral Kuznetsov, the Petry Veliky cruiser of the Kirov class, the three smaller cruisers of the Slava class, the 15 destroyers (class Udaloy, Sovremenny…), the 9 frigates, and the 24 corvettes. When it comes to submarines, the Akula class, the deadly Graney class, and the 3 guided missile submarines of the Oskar II are some of the best out there. The Russian Navy operates almost 360 aircraft: a small number of Tu-142, some II-38, and the tactical bombers Su-24. 
  
Even if the Chinese Navy outnumbers the Russian one, the second rank higher due to the highly dangerous and advanced ballistic missile submarines of Russia. 

1. USA

Of course, the most powerful navy in the world belongs to the United States. The personnel has almost 330,000 people and the fleet continues to improve constantly.  
  
Key weapons are the 11 enormous carriers (Ford-class, Nimitz class that can carry up to 80 aircraft each), the amphibious assault ships (class America and Wasp), the 22 advanced cruisers of the Ticonderoga class, the stealth Zumwalt destroyers, and of course the 64 Arleigh Burke destroyers. In submarines, the US Navy operates the 3 Seawolf masterpieces, the 14 top-class Virginia class submarines, the 14 Ohio, and the 35 older Los Angeles boats. The navy has more than 3,700 aircraft, like the F/A-18 and the newer F-35 Lightning II. ​​​​​​​
