5. Messerschmitt Bf 109K
We start the list with a very successful aircraft of the Germans. The Bf 109K was easy to handle, it can reach 600kmh and had a maximum range of 727km. It was equipped with two 13mm MG 131 cannons, two 20mm MG 151 cannons and one MG 151/20mm.
4. Lockheed P-38J Lightning
If you didn't understand it from its name, P-38J is an American aircraft. The fighter performed impressively in dogfights and that's why it scared the Nazis. The aircraft had a top speed of 670kmh, a 20mm cannon and four more guns.
3. Grumman F8F Bearcat
The American fighter operated from the US Navy aircraft carrier and was exceptionally deadly. Its maximum speed reached 700kmh and could carry up to 450kg of bombs. Its maximum range was between 1,400 and 2,300km. F8F had four Browning 12.7mm cannons.
2. Focke-Wulf FW 190 D-9
The specific aircraft belonged to the German Armed Forces and was a dominant fighter until the arrival of the P51 D. The FW 190 D-9 was light and easy to be controlled. Some of its most important features were its powerful armor and its heavy armament. Its top speed was 956km but typically, it flew at 710kmh. Its maximum range was only 636km.
